World’s First Flying Car Invented in Slovakia!
In the past years it was thought that there will be flying cars used by everyone around the world. It was assumed by 2020 there will be very less traffic on streets and everyone will travel easily round the globe. Now the thing is possible with the help of newly developed and certified Aircar. This concept is created and designed by Stefan Klein. founder of Klein Vision.
AirCar is composed of several functional units. Its aerodynamic fuselage provides enough space for the passengers and, at the same time, contributes to better lift characteristics during the flight. Among advanced technologies are the retractable wings, folding tail surfaces, parachute deployment system, etc. The folding tail surfaces contribute to a better longitudinal stability and take-off characteristics, just like in a conventional aircraft. However, in the car mode, retracted tail results in a more compact size.
AirCar has been conceived as a shape, evocating dynamic and attractive form predominantly built from an advanced composite material. In the car mode, the object generates downforce using spoiler and elevator pitch whereas in the aircraft mode the entire surface generates lift. Lift body concept includes future development for the spacious interior and for the variety of models: three and four seaters, twin-engine, and amphibious version. The company behind AirCar, Klein Vision, says the prototype has taken about two years to develop and cost “less than 2m euros” (£1.7m) in investment.
A prototype flying car has completed a 35-minute flight between international airports in Nitra and Bratislava, Slovakia. The hybrid car-aircraft, AirCar, is equipped with a BMW engine and runs on regular petrol-pump fuel. Its creator, Prof Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m), and had clocked up 40 hours in the air so far. It takes two minutes and 15 seconds to transform from car into aircraft. A flying car model, Aircar has taken the first step towards the production of Flying Cars. The model recently received a certificate of airworthiness from Slovakia’s Transport Authority (STA). The dual-mode flying car model has been designed by Klein Vision. The fifth generation flying car completed two 1500’ AGL flights. The model safely achieved two full airport patterns, including two takeoffs and landings.
Cars can be heavy, but planes must be light. The two-seat model weights 1,100kg and can carry additional load of 200kg per flight. The Aircar has a 1.6-litre BMW engine, the car-plane has an effective power output of 140HP. giving it a top flying speed of 170 kilometres per hour. It needs a 300 meters long runway before its take-off reaching speeds up to 200 km/h. But most importantly, the stability and controllability of the AirCar is accessible to any pilot.. Once it is airborne, it can fly up to a distance of 1,000 kilometres. The new Aircar made its first successful intercity flight in June 2021. It needed to complete at least 70 hours of flight test before it acquired the certificate, alongside it all needed to make more than two hundred take-offs and landings.
The car looks like a regular car and can be transformed into a plane in about three minutes; the whole transformation process is entirely automated, and it just needs a push of a button to start the process. The reports say that after the certificate for Aircar is acquired from STA, they can also file an application for aircraft type certifications.
AirCar certification opens the door for mass production of very efficient flying cars. It is official and the final confirmation of our ability to change mid-distance travel forever.
AirCar will be available globally for consumers to purchase within the next year, but Klein Vision’s spokesperson says that only licensed pilots will be eligible to actually fly it. The asking price of the innovation will range between $550,000 to $1.1 million, and will depend based on the features that the model has.
It defines a new category of a sports car and a reliable aircraft. Its certification was both a challenging and fascinating task.
